My husband and I are trying to have our first baby. I just had my period a little over a week ago. We have been having sex religiously since. The past 2 days I have not felt like "myself". I've been neasus, and very hungry at the same time. I don't want to jump the gun and assume I am pregnant. My question is, do I really have to wait until my next period to find out? Or is it possible you could get pregnant right after your last period?

It's possible but not very likely. Ovulation occurs around the middle of a woman's cycle (specifically, in the middle third): If you have a 28-day cycle, for example, then you'll usually ovulate on the 14th day, counting the first day of your period as the first day of your cycle. If your period lasts seven or eight days, by the time you finish menstruating you're only five or six days away from ovulating. If you consider that sperm can live in the fallopian tube for two or three days, then you have a narrow window in which you could get pregnant if you ovulated a little earlier than normal. If you're not actively trying to get pregnant, it's always safer to use reliable contraception when you have sex, no matter when in it is during your cycle.

What's happening: If everything falls into place from here on, this may be your last period for a while — good luck!

Like most women, you're probably most fertile in the middle of your menstrual cycle, or about two weeks after your last period starts. At that point you'll have a window of about three or four days when you're most likely to conceive. Sometime during this time a mature egg is swept into one of your Fallopian tubes to await the arrival of sperm.

To boost your chances of conceiving, determine the length of your cycle (we'll do the math for you: use the Ovulation Calculator) and learn how your basal body temperature and cervical mucus work. Both can help you detect the exact time you ovulate.

You're probably not pregnant (although it is possible to right after your period) b/c a normal cycle is 28 days give or take a few days. So that means you would ovulate about 14 days after the first day of your period. Yes you need to wait to test b/c it won't be entirely accurate till you miss your period. When us women want to get pregnant really bad and we think and stress over it we start to imagine that we are and start thinking that we ae having all these weird things happen to us. And you probably won't even be getting sypmtoms yet it takes about 5-7 days for the egg (if there is one) to make it to your uterus. Sorry to be the bearer of the not so good news. Good luck to you.

That's a tough one to try to answer. Well, I guess because we are all different and so are our body types that it is hard to say. But the symptoms that you have described sound like pregnancy but I don't want to tell you any wrong. I think the only thing for you to do is talk to your Gynecologist and ask and also get a blood test done so you won't be racking your brain. Or you could get an OTC pregnancy test to find out and I hope you are!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you and if so, let me know!! You can email me at frakmomma04@yahoo.com. Good Luck!!!
