Rainforests act as 'carbon sinks' basically mopping up the carbon expelled by the world, they convert carbon dioxide into glucose and bulk within the trees, lowering the pace of global warming.

If we cut down the forest we release that carbon dioxide into the atmosphere (it is estimated that 1/8 of all carbon dioxide emissions come from the burning of Tropical rainforests) and an are the size of Wales is cut down every year. its preservation and hopeful expansion is something that the world needs to have as a high concern

hope that helps

I live in Brazil and I would like to comment about Amazon. Amazon is the bigger rain-forest in the world. It is really huge and many animal and plants can be found in it. And drinking water, in the Amazon forest you can find many rivers. This system produces oxygen because the plants absorb the carbonic gas and liberate oxygen. Another important thing is the balance of the temperature gotten for the water evaporation. Finally we can´t forget that there live many people known as wild. They are living there before the Europeans arrived here.
