YES...people are not only getting dumber (not just Americans)...but people in general...our IQs are dropping through the years not rising...
Television, not reading (or reading crap), violence in the world, violence at home, etc, etc.
People follow extreme right and extreme left media driven politics...that are used to manipulate people and they no longer can think for themselves...they just reverbage what they heard dirty Bill O say the night before or what some Hollywood movie star said during his interview...it's CRAZY..and sad. People have all become the stupid puppets of politics that are driven by the big corporations that rely on the media (and visa versa). And BECAUSE people are stupid and can't think for themselves anymore - pretty much they're brain-washed)...you couldn't convince them that is happening in a million years...
Verryyyyy Scary to live in a world of idiots...and the same thing is true EVERYwhere...not just in the U.S...which makes it even more scary...and sad. Oh well.

Yes, it's true - American's ARE getting stupider (which is sad - I am american) and at the same time, we wonder why other foreign immigrants are getting our jobs. When our educational standards are so low that the best job a high school drop out can get is working at a fast food place, we've hit rock bottom. We stuff our faces with the same fast food, getting fatter and fatter every year, wondering why some guy named Habib got our job when he has 5 college degrees. Our children think they are so smart, then wind up getting caught by the cops when they smoke illegal drugs outside their own homes - they're getting stupider by the generation.
We need to send a message to our leaders in America - WAKE UP and SMELL THE IDIOCY - big corporations don't care if we're stupid or not, as long as we can make enough money to buy their garbage. We need to raise our children and PUSH them to be smarter, or America will NOT be what it is supposed to be - the land of opportunity - it will be the land of SLAVERY.

I am american and I love learning new things and trying to not be ignorant but I seem surrounded by dumb a**es who have no idea what I'm talking about. I have to "dumb down" just to be able to have a conversation with a lot of people. I hate it! I think that there are a lot of people that are smart but they are smart enough to stay out of the eye of the media where they will just be made to look stupid too. I think that the prevalance of christian beliefs and greed are what is making americans so arrogant and ignorant.

I believe Americans are unable to keep up with all the technology and information that is out there. It is always changing. As for the elderly, you have to realize they were not brought up with all this new stuff, WE need to educate them.

Oh please... have you looked at what's on the tube these days? "Reality" shows that have a much to do with reality as rocks have to do with steak. "humor" that is basically swear words strung together. Teen age girls that look like 40 years olds rode hard and put up wet.
And, just for fun, compare the average teacher's pay, the average police officer's, the average emt's, the average fireman's pay - to what a baseball or football player gets? or someone who dresses like a cheap tart and dances and sings suggestive material to little kids? Or the people we admire: brainless daughters of rich folks who wander around half naked.
Yeah, we're getting ignorant, and arrogant, and it ain't gonna get better soon.

Because we rely too much on technology. People are definitely dumber and a lot more selfish. It's really sad, I can't get over over rude and stupid some people are!

the arrogance was there before, it's more noticable because we have the technology to record it. spy tv/cameras, motion sensors, sound sensors. Stuff been going on now we have a record of it.
