I don't know alot about computer viruses (after this I will be sure to study all of them!!!) and I just want to know that one, if I turn my computer completely off (so they cannot access my work information) and don't turn it on, will it be okay until we get the program to get rid of the virus, and two, if I access my email from another computer, can they access information that way also??? Please help!! I'm completely dumb when it comes to this stuff!

What is the name of the torjan and what virus scanner picked it up. Please disable your system restore so it does not copy itself Right click my Computer->Properties->System Restore. Once you have confirmed that the worm is gone you can reenable System Resote.

To remove the trojan first start the computer in safe mode. Hit F8 before windows screen (windows2000 and up) F5(Windows95-ME) Then select safe mode. Scan the computer with your virus scanner.

If you do not have a virus scanner and it was alerted by windows then:

www.free-av.com
www.free.grisoft.com

Also install:

Torjan's can spread to other computers on the network if they are strong enough. Most just sends information about the computer you are using to there server. The best thing to do is leave the internet unplug and do a thourough scan.

If the virus disables your scanner for some mysterious reason then get the name of the virus and do a search online it should tell you how to manually remove the virus.

Btw: there are thousands of worms, trojans so its not a good idea to remember them all you might get a headache
