There is never a guarantee on ones safety but you can find safe accommodations in any of the hotels near the airport as well as the tourist corridor of hwy 192 in Kissimmee. i will be travelling alone with my 8 year old daughter on 30th november from the uk to florida for 2 weeks we are staying at pop century resort where we know we will be safe otherwise i wouldnt be doing it on my own they do look after you the transport to the parks is provided so we dont need to worry yes taxis do bother me abit but we will get use to it

traveling for what purpose? in general the bad areas of town are far and away from the tourist areas. don't visit the university area or the ghettos. you can stay on disney property and have disney bus you around if that would make you feel safer.
