I used to love going on roller coasters. In fact I once worked at a big amusement park, and after work me and my buds would go on them for free. We would ride and ride and ride.
But now to answer your question. It is not uncommon to have a fear of one kind or another. Your fear could be based on the height, the speed, being enclosed in small spaces; could be a number of things.
If you read this page, your fear may be well-founded:
Roller coaster accidents database.

Many people become victims of roller coaster accidents
either due to unscrupulous park owners, lax jurisdictional laws
and enforcement, just by plain stupidity or, more importantly,
the result of previously undiagnose heart ailments.
Statistically, roller coasters are very safe. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission estimates that 134 park guests required hospitalization in 2001 and that fatalities related to amusement rides average two per year. According to a study commissioned by Six Flags, 319 million people visited parks in 2001. The study concluded that a visitor has a one in one-and-a-half billion chance of being fatally injured, and that the injury rates for children's wagons, gum chewing, golf, and folding lawn chairs are higher than for amusement rides.[citation needed] In fact, driving to the amusement park has a higher risk of injury than riding the rides at the amusement park. It is not unusual for park management to pay higher insurance premiums for carousels than they do for roller coasters.

The only way to get over your fear is to start trying out roller coasters. Start small at first, and then work your way up.
One benefit of riding roller coasters is that it gets your endorphine count up, giving you a 'rush', much like coming across a homicidal maniac carrying a machete.

Don't worry; I was this way too for many years. Funny, really, because I never had a bad experience - I just couldn't fathom going on. One day I went on a school field trip to Disney, though, and was peer pressured onto Rock'N'Roller Coaster. Let's just say it was all downhill since then - I'm a ride FANATIC now. It's all a mental thing, really. Anyone can overcome their fears if they put their mind to it. I think you should give it a try sometime - and NOT on a carnival ride. I hate them; they don't feel "safe" and I'm usually too worried about dieing to enjoy the experience. Florida's parks are fantastic, as are Six Flags' and Cyprus Gardens.

while i replaced into youthful i replaced into so petrified of curler coasters. My sister incredibly a lot forced me on the coaster, and that i replaced into particularly scared. throughout the time of the experience i replaced into screaming for my existence. I felt like the experience replaced into going to interrupt down or some thing. yet as quickly as I have been given off i replaced into leaping up and down for her to circulate on it with me returned. to sidestep being scared, I propose going with a chum or kinfolk. This sounds kinda wierd, yet while i circulate on frightening rides i like to sit down next to somebody and carry thier hand? i do no longer know. It in basic terms makes be experience a lot safer. usually while i circulate with my sister she makes me circulate on the scariest experience first. This usually helps using fact each and everything after that should not be as frightening. Now, i'm no longer petrified of rollercoasters. wish this helped! And one extra element, do no longer spike your self out. in basic terms think of, what's the worst that ought to take place? the element will injury down? No, it won't! and notwithstanding if it does.. Who pronounced your going to die? King da ka breaks down like 2x an afternoon! No physique ever gets injury. Lol. wish this didnt make you extra scared. Your superb! while it incredibly is throughout, you will rather like it.

Scientists have proved that people who like roller coasters, bungee jumping, etc, have a chemical missing in their brains.
Therefore, I'd say you were normal!

It's a phobia so there doesn't need to be a rational explanation.
Luckily it's not something that's going to interfere with everyday life.

You a) don't want to die, and b) don't like feeling sick. It's self-preservation. Why go near them?
