I dont know the answer to this but I can point you in the right direction. Only the other day I was in B&Q and they had thousands of nails all different sizes, they must grow them to different lengths etc, so why not ask a check out operator at B&Q because generally I find them to be the most intelligent of people and so keen to help. I dont know how B&Q manage it to employ the higher level of intelligence, I can only assume they have been poached from Mcdonalds

Do you wear rubber gloves when washing up or doing any dirty housework or gardening? If not, give it a go! I have lovely long, strong nails which I attribute to always protecting my hands with gloves and also using a hand and nail cream at night. (I used to bite my nails when I was a teenager and I think the constant pruning made them strong!) Also, cut off the split ends before filing gently. Good luck!

For healthy nails and hair take calcium supplements, like milk and eggs.
Externally rub your nails with the lemon rind for 5 min then wash off with water,it makes the brittle nails turn hard strong, and make them look fresh.
And you can also try the the following method take some almond or olive oil in a bowl heat the oil , when the oil is warm(Luke) then dip your fingers in it for 5 min then wash off with warm water. this is the best method .Apply the night cream or cold cream before retiring for bed. And spend aome money on manicur/pedicure coz you worth it.

Buy some Sally Hansen Miracle Grow nail polish. It's in a gold bottle and costs around a tenner but it's great as it speeds up nail growth as well as repairing split and torn nails.

My nails grow like mad. All I do is apply Sally Hansen Diamond Hard (I think. Diamond something anyway. It's in a silver bottle). It's about £7 from Boots. Then just leave them alone. I believe the more you muck around with them, the less they do want you want them to do. Sods law!

I learned the trick to growing long nails naturally is to be aware of your nails when doing things with your hands. Use your finger tips without using your nails to do things. This takes practice. Keep an emery board handy to file nails when necessary. It is important to file nails in one direction when filing. Nails tend to crack and break when not filed properly. Another suggestion is to use a clear nail hardening polish to strengthen the nails and to protect them from breakage.

If you get a manicure from a professional salon they will give you loads of tips. If you would prefer to do it yourself then i recommend buying a three way buffer, wooden/plastic stick and cuticle scissors.(superdrug, boots etc) when you file your nails do it in one direction to get a water tight seal. Soften hands in warm water and push back cuticles with wooden stick and trim with the scissors. Then use the buffer to help circulation to the nail and add shine. Vitamins can help with the nail quality ( esp vit e, zinc. c and calcium) A good diet is essential also.xx

It works both ways, like people have answered you here, from the inside out, pre-natal vitamins (folic acid and calcium) they work wonders, try eating a daily serving of gelatin (jell-o) the keratin helps hair and nails, and keep a balanced diet. From the outside, try using gloves, creams, and always keep a coat of varnish (polish) to protect them. File them in one direction. Hope it works!!! I'll try the lemon thing and see how it works, it sounds interesting.
