Publically traded stocks, also ones that can turn low grade silicon into solar quality. I doubt anyone will answer, but its worth a shot.

MEMC electronic materials (WFR) primarily produces semiconductor wafers (hence the stock symbol) but has recently branched out into supplying solar manufacturers. The article below tells about their recent contract.

Here are some companies you may find interesting.

Evergreen Solar (ESLR: Nasdaq: about $8.27)--check out the string ribbon technology.

Matrix Solar Tech is owned by ATS (Automated Tool Systems, ATA: Toronto), so you can indirectly own a piece.

Suntec Power (STP: NYSE: about $27.38)--holding company.

Then there are Tokyo and Hong Kong traded companies like Sharp, Kyocera, and China Solar. And the OTC crowd like Solar Enertec (SOEN), Solar Energy Ltd (SLRE), Solar Thin Films (SLTF), etc. Some of these are really, really risky.

I poked around a little - everything I've found indicates that there is ONE compnay porducing SoG-Si in the US, and its not public.
Strangely enough, its called Solar Grade Silicon LLc.
