It takes about four hours to prepare cranberry sauce including the time it takes to chill.
Ingredients:
1¼ cup Sugar
1¼ cup Water
16 oz Fresh Cranberries
Method:
Pour the water in a saucepan and add sugar to it.
When they start boiling, add cranberries to the syrup.
Let the mixture boil and them put them on low heat and let them cook for another 10 minutes while stirring them now and then.
Cranberries will split open from the heat.
Pour everything in a strainer put over a bowl and use the back of the spoon to push the sauce through the strainer and there is no juice left in the pulp.
Stir the cranberry sauce well and cover it with a plastic lid.
Let the sauce cool in the fridge for more than three hours before serving.
Hope this helps

once you make it yourself, you never go back to that crap from the can.
If you buy a bag of fresh cranberries, in the produce section, there is usually a recipe right on the bag. It is very simple, you boil an equal amount of water and sugar, then put the cranberries in and stir till they all break up. Then refrigerate, till you are ready to serve.
I like to "jazz" up the basic recipe. I put two cinnamon sticks, about four cloves and four all spice berries in with the boiling water. I also use some orange juice with the water.
Once all the sugar is dissolved, put the cranberries in and stir till they are broken up. Remove from the heat and put in some zest from an orange peel- don't get any of the white part of the orange peel, it's bitter.
Make it at least a full day ahead of time and put it in the refrigerator, to let the flavors develop.
You can wrap and tie up the cinnamon, cloves and berries in a cheese cloth thing, or let them float free. Just make sure you dig them out before serving.
Your relatives' head will explode when she tastes this!

It is so easy and usually comes with a recipe on the bag of cranberries. If memory serves me, you use 1 cup water, 1 cup sugar and the bag of cranberries. You boil this mixture until the berries pop open and mingle with the rest of the ingredients and then you pour it into a dish and chill it. It sets itself sort of like Jello and it is much better than the canned stuff. You can usually find the cranberries in the produce section of the grocery store during the holiday season.

Canned stuff is okay, but I LOVE fresh homemade cranberry sauce. It's easy! I got this recipe from Emeril live and I am just nuts for it - although I add more sugar to it. Taste it before you put in the cornstarch and add more sugar if you think it needs it. You can make it ahead of time too.
1 pound fresh cranberries
2 tablespoon grated orange zest
2 teaspoon grated lemon zest
1/2 cup fresh orange juice
6 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 cup granulated sugar
2 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
4 cups water
6 tablespoons cornstarch
Put the cranberries, orange and lemon zest, orange and lemon juice, sugar, vanilla, and 1 1/2 cups of the water in a medium-size saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil and cook for 8 minutes.
Dissolve the cornstarch in the remaining 1/2 cup of water and add to the pan. Reduce the heat to medium, then stir constantly until the mixture thickens, about 2 minutes.
Remove from the heat and cool completely.
Yield: 4 cups

It's really, really simple, and you can make it a few days ahead. I don't use a recipe. Just buy a bag of fresh cranberries from the grocery store, wash them, put them in a pot, just cover them with water, and add sugar till you get the desired sweetness you want. Boil for a few minutes till the berries start to "pop", and the sugar is all dissolved.
Works perfectly, and is very easy.
Good Luck

Boil together Sugar water and cranberries to specified taste and you can either strain out the skins in a wire strainer or leave them in, refrigerate until chilled and serve. This is way better than the canned version. My husband is a chef and these are magnificant.

Well in my family they will only eat the cranberry sauce from the can lol.
But go to the foodnetwork.com and search for the recipe, I got a recipe for stuffing last year and it was really good, they usually have pretty good recipes that are easy to make. Good luck!
