So many violent reactions - Just what the man in the question was obviously seeking.

I was glad to see that someone thought of that and said they would get away rather than have violence visited upon them.

These type of violent people are are the dross of society and their actions are hurtful but it is worth the pain, humiliation and risk of serious violence to respond to it?

Common sense says no.

Well, I'd say the smartest thing to do would be to get the hell away from him. Because there's a good chance that he's one of the following:
1. out of his mind,
2. a sociopath,
3. drunk or hopped up on drugs
4. raging about something and who knows what it could be?

There's a good chance he's ready for a fight. Unless I was ready to kick his a-ss and thought I could do it, I'd be even more inclined to get the h-ell away from him.

Plus, with all of the crazies out there, how do you know the bastard isn't carrying a gun and on his way to his former place of employment to slaughter all of his former co-workers? OK, that sounds a bit far-fetched, but you never know what's going on in someones life. But his incredibly aggressive behaviour gives you a clue that something is very wrong with this person.

If there was a cop standing nearby, I might tell them. If you're a female, the cop might listen to you. I'm a guy, though, so the cop would probably just look at me as if I were the crazy one.

Even when I'm obviously stronger and bigger than someone else, it's really hard for me to physically fight someone, even if it's in self-defense. It's just the way I am. If I'm absolutely enraged, I have done it before, though, and successfully. But that's the exception for me.

Having said all that, sometimes my temper gets the better of me, and I will tell someone off. And I'm pretty good at coming up with insults, and pissing people off if I really want to get back at them. Of course, then I'd run the risk of a physical confrontation.

Even though I can defend myself if I really am pressed, there's the risk that one or both of us would end up in jail if it happened on a public street.

I know for damned sure that jail is something I want to avoid. And unless an officer saw the entire thing, how would they know who was telling the truth? They might be able to figure it out, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Please tell me, though, if this actually happened to you, how did you respond? I'd like to know.

I would go whup this guy a** so bad that next time this person steps on anybody else foot he would remember the but whopping he got and he would apologize. I would track down the car and beat the living daylight out of the driver even if it is a family member.

First... I'd watch where the heck I was going and apologize.

YEAH!

Seriously... People ignorantly walk in the path of others without excusing themselves or too closely and feel "violated" when touched. Seriously... Unless you were standing still when this fellow stepped on your feet you were probably just as guilty as he was of causing the incident.

I'd tell him his momma did a poor job at teaching him manners. And only a (very choice name) would disrespect a woman. Then flip him off.

Since I walk with a cane, I probably would pick up the cane and ask him if he wants this shoved down his throat.
