When i was at school the teachers used to yell at us for dressing badly, but nearly every schoolboy i see these days has his shirt hanging out & is not wearing a tie, or the tie is badly tied.

Don't the teachers say anything now??

Yes, they're a right scruffy looking bunch these days, its not just the boys, i see young girls wearing so much make-up like they are going to a fashion show not to school.

standards have certainly dropped. My teachers would have told the boys...

"Tuck your shirt in, Didn't your mother teach you how to dress yourself ?"

As a teacher, i would say we do at my school! We give 'white slips' and that means they have to go to the hall and stand with the headteacher for half an hour! they really hateit and we are slowly turning the school to a neat school!!
We also have to send girls to the bathrooms to wash their makeup off if they have too much (which i personally dont agree with)
But the rough school round my area dont care! Hope ive helped!

depends which shool, a private school in winchester somewhere is always well dressed, it must be the state school filth you are talking about, teachers dont care..they just care about their salaries and what they are going to do with their hand and a dirty magazine this evening while grading homework..the stains on my school paper are mortifying!!, however you can talk and talk to a student but if they dont listen then there is no point and the minute they step out of the school they will be dishevelled..so I ask Whats the point?

I agree. When I was at school everything had to be exactly right or else we were accused of bringing the school into disrepute - a really serious offence leading to detention and all sorts of other horrible things. These days I wonder why they bother with school uniforms at all the kids all look so untidy.

At my school you can be suspended for not dressing properly. Or, they will have you change.

Nobody seems to care what teenagers do these days, they get away with anything.
