I used to think this was a song and i only really know this part of the lyrics "Mommas dont let your babies grow up to be"..n i think its kinda slow..but i was lookin for it on the net..and it seems to be more like an expression people use rather than a song...or maybe it was just derived from a song and the lyrics are just not easy to find.

If its a song, could someone please tell me the title of the song or the artist´s name, so i could search for the lyrics...and if its really just an expression...could someone tell me the origin of it, i´d be interested to know. Thank you everyone for takin the time here to answer my silly question lol. =D

Artist/Band: Nelson Willie
Lyrics for Song: Mammas Don't Let Your Babies Grow Up to Be Cowboys
Lyrics for Album: Essential Willie Nelson
(with Waylon Jennings)

Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don't let 'em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make 'em be doctors and lawyers and such
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They'll never stay home and they're always alone
Even with someone they love
Cowboys ain't easy to love and they're harder to hold
And they'd rather give you a song then diamonds or gold
Lonestar belt buckles and old faded Levi's each night begins a new day
And if you don't understand him and he don't die young
He'll probly just ride away
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don't let 'em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make 'em be doctors and lawyers and such
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They'll never stay home and they're always alone
Even with someone they love
Cowboys like smokey old pool rooms and clear mountian moringin's
Little warm puppies and children and girls of the night
And them that don't know him won't like him
And them that do sometimes won't know how to take him
He ain't wrong he's just different
but his pride won't let him do things to make you think he's right
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don't let 'em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make 'em be doctors and lawyers and such
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
They'll never stay home and they're always alone
Even with someone they love
Mama don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys
Don't let 'em pick guitars and drive them old trucks
Make 'em be doctors and lawyers and such

Across the Universe~ Images of broken light which dance before me like a million eyes That call me on and on across the universe Africa~ The moonlit wings reflect the stars that guide me towards salvation I stopped an old man along the way Hoping to find some long forgotten words or ancient melodies He turned to me as if to say, hurry boy, its waiting there for you Let it Be~ And when the night is cloudy, There is still a light that shines on me. Shine until tomorrow, let it be. I wake up to the sound of music Mother Mary comes to me There will be no sorrow, let it be. Fool on the Hill~ And he never listens to them, He knows that they're the fools I Am the walrus~ Semolina Pilchard, climbing up the Eiffel Tower. Elementary penguin singing Hare Krishna. Man, you should have seen them kicking Edgar Allan Poe. Little Miss can't be Wrong~ Been a whole lot easier since the ***** left town Me & Bobby McGee~ Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose, Nothing don't mean nothing honey if it ain't free, now now. And feeling good was easy, Lord, when he sang the blues, You know feeling good was good enough for me, Yesterday~ Suddenly, I'm not half the man I used to be, There's a shadow hanging over me, Oh, yesterday came suddenly. thats just about it =)
