The Corps is nonetheless larger than the entire armed forces of many significant military powers; for example, it is larger than the Israeli Defense Forces.

What exactly are you asking? The Marines traditionally deployed as smaller detachments. I think WWI was the first time they went in regimental sized units (the 5th and 6th Marines).

The best thing to do is to get some jarhead to tell you what the Marines do. I was an amphibious sailor and all I did was to drop them off at places and then go and get pizza.
