It and The Talisman are both fantastic, but I really enjoyed The Stand, which may be the one with the dark man that you refer to.

I think the Dark Tower series is a monster of a story, so much detail and background info really leaves you believing such a world could really exist. I have read them all except the last one which i have now bought and am eagerly waiting to read and find out if roland and crew reach the dark tower and save the day ( i rather suspect they will but you can never tell in a s kinfg book)

The dark man (Flagg) is in a lot of his books; The Dark Tower series, Eye of the Dragon, The Stand, The Talisman 1&2.
The Regulators? as Richard Bachman (pseudonym)
Look in the first few pages of one of his books for a list of all titles.
My favorites are his anthologies; Bachman Books etc.

Christine and Lawnmower Man, both better than the film versions
but didn't like Needful Things, The Green Mile and Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me I think are the best film versions of his books, can't say that I've really got into his later work, but definitely one of the best horror writers

I like Different Seasons, featuring The Shawshank Redemption, and The Body. The Body was made into a movie, and known as Stand By Me.
The Green Mile is very good too.
He is a great wrieter.

The one with the dark man is called The Stand. My favorite Stephen King book is Christine or Carrie. Also, pick up Pet Cemetery or Insomnia.

I can't really do horror, but loved the Dark Tower books - to spend that much of your life on one thread/story is amazing. And you want to go back cos it doesn't end

Pets Cemetery. Thinner.
But for really good horror stories, Read the Trilogy by James Herbert
Rats, Lair, & Domain. They will make the hair on the back of you neck tingle.
