This is really tough.
If I was you, I would try to think of good things.
Like how sensitive people like yourself can help these children better than those who dont feel anything.
Like how youre only there for a short time and youre not really their parents who deal with the kids all their lives.
Like how lovely some of those kids are and bright no matter what kind of situation theyre in.
I hope you could learn to get used to it somehow. If not, then I suggest you change your department.
I used to ask a friend in medicine how it felt like to be around sick people so much, she said she was real disturbed at first cause she felt sorry for them, but she got used to it eventually.
Hugs!!
Good luck!

If you can, take a five day weekend, (Friday through Tuesday) and go on a little vacation to the beach or to the mountains, and just relax. Or take a weekend and read a book while listening to soft classical music. Or you could go out and hang out with friends or family. I myself have been through a lot of stress, I have Church EVERY morning, Wed. Nights, and Sunday mornings. High School (We all know how stressful that is! haha), Marching band every Tuesday and Thursday's and some ALL DAY competitions on Saturdays, babysitting my little brothers, and a bunch of other stuff. You are a nurse, so its more stressful for you, but that's what I do when I'm stressed out. Hope that was some help!!

hey,i am so sorry you feel like this...........
this really scares me myself i want to be a nurse too i like to help people but now i don't know from what i hear it is not easy at all!!!
well my aunt is a nurse and she says that trying to keep away from the patient is good i mean not really getting in their life by not really talking.. because it not only hurts you but it makes you not forget the person...
well take it easy hope you get better and don't stress remember not everything is easy in life !!!!

ideas:1- make a book about your feelings and the situation around(you can help yourself with the money that you earn to get some courses,or to help the family of some patiences).2-make some courses that help yourself to cope situations like that one,so you will be ready for another similar or to help other with the same situation.3-practice tai chi,chi kung, learn to pray for others and thanks to god for everthing you have(this one works for me,so i am concious about all the trash that sometimes i see like problems).4- go to a hipnosis therapy.
