I'm English, but there is no way that we will reatain the ashes. Aussie should beat us 4-0 with a draw I reckon.

1. England holds The Ashes so Aus have to win the series to regain them, England only needs a drawn series.
2. England has some fine young players who Oz haven't seen yet (Cook, Panesar, Mahmood...)
3. The England team is young compared with the aging Aussies.
4. Some of the Oz team MAY be past their sell by date (Warne, McGrath, Gilchrist, Martyn. Langer, Hayden...)
5. England are a genuine team with no need to yomp though the bush to prove that they bond together.
6. England has three very destructive batsmen who can turn an innings around or build on a good start (Trescothick, Pietersen, Flintoff).
7. England has two absolutely world class fast bowlers in Flintoff and Harmison.
8. England could tie down the vaunted Aussie attack with two classy and economical spinners - Panesar and Giles.
9. The Barmy Army will be cheering England on at every match.
10. I've taken out a Voodoo spell on Ricky Ponting!

Since Ashes Trophy is presently with England, there is no question of their regaining the Ashes. However, they would like to retain the same as it is a very prestigious Trophy in the history of Test Cricket and there is nothing wrong their thinking of retaining the same. However, the possibilities of their retaining the Ashes are very remote in their present form.

Cast your mind back to the last Ashes series .After the first game England 1-0 down in the series to the greatest sports team in the world.but talent ,willpower and sheer determination plus the belief by several Aussie players that they would win the series at a canter, inc one (don't remember who it was now) who said it would be a 5-0 series whitewash spurring them on (imagine being Vaughn the England captain and having that little quote posted on the dressing room wall.pep talk done ) .So yes it will be tough ,Australia will be favourites but if they show the same spirit as last year and Aus show the same arrogance then of course they have a chance.

It's a big ask with our form since the ashes. But if the injured players come back at a good level we will have benefitted from young players gaining some valuable experience so we will have a strong squad.
With Ashley Giles and Steve Harmison steadying up the tail end and Cook coming on in experience and Bell finally coming good we will be ok in batting. Harmy has to have a big series to take the pressure of Freddy.
But i'm gonna bet on us.

i'm quite searching ahead to this Ashes sequence and absolutely have not thoroughly written the Aussies off. inspite of this England might want to enter the sequence as overwhelming favourites through cutting-edge type and the actual shown actuality that the sequence is being performed in England. I reckon Chris Rogers might want to be quite a dismal horse as he's conventional with the situations over the following quite nicely. good to confirm some pleasant banter flying round between both gadgets of supporters too!

They don't, but if Harmison fires with the ball, Pietersen the bat and Flintoff with both then they might just _retain_ them :)
