i love this one little indian food restauraunt in alhambra. it's called mahan. it's family run and the man who makes it came from india too. he has been making curry there (in the restaurant) for 35 years. they know what they are doing when they make curry. i want to try their pumpkin curry next time i go. mmmmm....curry. i'm curry's biggest fan.
I pray nobody mentions The French Laundry, or any other restaurant having anything to do with Thomas Keller.
Napa has too many great restaurants. Our favorite is a simple hole in the wall called Tres Hermanos. Best authentic Mexican food ever
In Kansas City Missouri there a great place called KC Masterpeices. If you Love BBQ its actually a great place to go other then that Applebees, Chile's, Outback, Lone Star.

Since this is in in the Los Angeles dining out section, I assume that you are looking for the best restaurant in LA. Typically, L'Orangerie is considered to be the best in Los Angeles. There are more trendy places, more see & be seen places, but this one consistantly gets voted highly in most restaurant and travel guides.
