Have you read any Jane Green? Very similar to Marian Keyes, especially her earlier books. Her later ones are really too sappy for my taste. You might enjoy 'A Short History of Tractors in Ukrainian' by Marina Lewycka. It's obviously not about about Ukrainian tractors!

Terry Pratchett, the highest selling living author for a very good reason... he is funny, witty and his books are very colourful.
I'd recommend to start with Mort, or failing that if you've read the classic called 'Faust' read pratchetts spoof called 'Eric'
Failing that, pratchett also did Wyrd Sisters, which is a wonderfully twisted view and parody of Macbeth
Best book i ever read was WIld Swans though, a great true story of a women growing up in the revolutionary and then communist china.

Try Jodi Picoult - She isn't as light hearted but you won't be able to put the books down and they really make you think.
Read My Sister's Keeper First
Or try The Time Travellers Wife - Audrey Heffenigger (Think Spelling is right) One of the most expertly written books I've ever read.

It depends on what type of books you like to read. If you're over the age of 18 and you like a good romance/mystery, check out Tori Carrington. She writes with Harlequin Blaze. She's my favorite author!

I really liked Career Girls by Louise Bagshaw. Or for a while I was very into Penny Vinccensi (I think thats how you spell it). Bryce Courtenay is a genius and I cannot reccommend Power of One enough. And Mitch Albom's Tuesdays with Morrie.

I was going to suggest Sophie Kinsella. I also like Jane Green and Kate Long in particular.

Hi..i love Shelia O'Flanagan, Melissa Hill, Susan Lewis, Maeve Havan, Cathy Kelly, Martina Cole to name a few. If you are a regular read you might like this site www.readitswapit.co.uk i came across this and it does exactly what it says. You place books for swap in your swap list and they are entered on a categorised library, someone then emails you who wants your book, you choose from their swap list and send via the post to them. Its a free service and one i would wholly recommend.

I've just finished reading The Bartimeus Trilogy by Johnathon Stroud. All very good reads, especially to help you switch off.
