Ultimately, all it means is that, at that point in time, your liver was probably functioning okay.
The amount of alcohol that you drink is up to you, however, the recommended limits are there for a reason. Routinely drinking heavily can, and almost certainly will, damage your liver to some extent as well as your stomach, brain, immune system and fitness.
In direct answer to your question, yes your liver is coping at the moment.
As to whether you drink too much alcohol? That's something you need to think about for yourself.
EDIT: LFTs do not test for cholesterol - a standard liver profile will test for AST, ALT, ALP, Gamma GT, Bilirubin and Albumin (plus a clotting study). It does not require permenant damage, let alone 90% damage to show anything, GGT will be raised after a single heavy night of drinking.

It means that your liver is ok at this point. That you noted you consume more than is "normal" is highly indicative of a future problem. Alcohol damages much more than one's liver over time. I'll wager at this stage of the game you are feeling pleased and perhaps lulled into a false sense of security. Forewarned is forearmed: alcoholism goes slow or fast, it depends on the individual, but you can rest very assured that it does progress along.

Be careful here...don't let yourself be fooled.
Your liver has to be at least 90% damaged before it shows signs of damage. By then, of course, it's too late to do anything about it.
Only YOU can answer for yourself if you drink too much alcohol.

Liver function tests usually only test for Cholestrol and the like. Unless you are taking sterols it is unlikely the bit that handles alcohol will have been tested.

It means you haven't damaged it YET! But if you continue to abuse alcohol, you will definately ruin your liver!
