I am 40 1/2 weeks pregnant and I went to the doc. on monday to have an ultrasound to check on the baby. They said that he was 8lbs and had plenty of fluid and already head down and ready to come. They schedualed me to be induced for the 8th because I havent been progressing. I am 1cm dilated for a month now and I have walked myself until I thought I would drop and still nothing. I have also had sex (softly because it kind of hurts) and nothing. So monday the doc. tried to stretch my cervix to get things going and Im beginning to think he did. I walked a lot yesterday and last night I started having really sharp pains in my pelvic area that shot all the way down to my cervix it felt. So bad I couldnt hardly walk. They started to ease up so I walked some more and done nipple stimulation which got them to keep up. They wouldnt last though and eventually I ended up falling asleep. Now this morning when I stand up I feel the same pains off and on and really bad when he moves around.

does this sound like the start of early labor? and how do I keep them going? I dont want to do anything harsh like caster oil or black and blue cohosh. Thanks for all your help and advice. Me and my hubby are ready and excited to see this little man!

You must be having a boy, they never want to come out!! My second child was a boy I went almost 42 weeks with him I tried everything to start labor because I was so misreble. If you rest and the pains stop it's most likly not labor, but if you start walking around and they increase it is probably he begininning of laor.

OK try not to laugh but i tried it and it helped!!!
sit on the toilet and rock, it should help the baby to come lower in the pelvis and put pressure on your cervix,
i found squatting really helps and rotating your hips anything that will bring the baby down even lower
i hope he comes soon make sure you let us know all is OK and how big he was etc x x x x
