Almost all of it I think. Makes us laugh ...

i think the American culture has a differant sense of humour at the moment, and the British humour has recently moved towards extreme subtlety and irony etc

the Americans concentrate on the vulgar and rude in popular culture, although there are some examples of British type humour in America

by the way... The American Office was an absolute disgrace, why not attempt something new? (an american red dwarf was attempted too)

but with regards to british comedy, i think there are too many charactors that just rely on a few phrases now days!! dont get me wrong i like any comedy (almost) but little britian has got repetitive, catherine tate is predictable, tittybangbang is a one trick pony and the rest are not worth mentioning

I actual have chanced on maximum British human beings to be particularly polite and particularly relaxing. i'm an American, the son of a Scotsman, and if there became ever a human beings to dislike the Brits, it would the two be a Scot or an Irishman. starting to be up, I spent a minimum of at some point a week enjoying soccer with foreigners, because it became no longer a properly ordinary sport returned then. the ameliorations in our cultures clarify lots of ways we perceive them as such, yet once you get to be responsive to the individuals, you will discover they're particularly a relaxing loving bunch and make as lots relaxing of themselves because of the fact the do others. that's tremendously much a British comical cultural undertaking. They make relaxing of each and every others' popular communities, lots as we do, yet their form of humor comes for the period of slightly "off" by way of our standards. So, merely attempt to realize our cultural ameliorations are what makes us see them because of the fact the "intense and robust, self-righteous assholes", (that and the certainty that we beat them for our independence and loads of are nevertheless bitter approximately that.)

Not all of us are such dullards. I'll bet more Americans appreciate the Monty Python flicks than the entire England population for just one example.
I will say that department store sitcom almost cancels-out the Monty Python appreciation here, though.
Ironic, to me , is the fact that British Humour is so often labelled 'subtle' and 'stuffy' when you had Brits like the late Winston Churchill, the randy, racey raconteur with the rapid rapier wit.

Because Americans don't get the subtly of their humor. My Dad has a similar sense of humor and I love British humor. It's a gas!

A great deal of American humor is based on exaggeration, whereas the British seem to like understatement.

Personally, I find both hilarious.

Generally speaking most Americans don't understand sarcasm. They tend to like obvious humour and toilet jokes (just look at the so-called comedy films that Hollywood produces these days for an example).

It is not true of all Americans though, I know plenty that love our sense of homour and are just as, if not more, sarcastic than most Brits!

This is best answered by Ambrose Bierce:
"Humor is a sweet wine, wit a dry. We all know which the connoisseur prefers".

Most Americans do not have a developed sense of wit.

I love British humor. Gee, I don't know now though. I guess I didn't realize it was all over my head. Or maybe that's just a ridiculous generalization.

Different cultures find different things funny. I was absolutely amazed that the Americans found the Office so funny as it was very 'British' humour. And not all US comedy goes down well here.
