It depends on what they do surgery on (food animals, equine, small animal), if they are specialists, where they are, what the surgery is, how many patients they have, and so on. It also depends on if the person only does surgeries, or is active in other aspects of the case. Perhaps $50,000/year to start, but do not take that as a set in stone answer. It varies (unless they have a set salary).
