I think it makes some people feel better to criticize others rather than look within. Sad, eh? I have a good friend like that and we have gotten so we just ignore her. It's a basic insecurity. Also, I think you get it into your head that you just don't like something and then when you see someone that represents that you criticize them even though a lot of times it is not something they can even help. A good example would be a balding man.

It's all about insecurity with themselves in some way, and some people are more prone than others to be insecure. When a person is secure and confident in how they look, they don't tend to criticize others.

I have noticed this as well.
It's like the "pot calling the kettle black" no reference to black people intended. I have seen a men on Divorce Court complaining that their wife's have gotten fat and unattractive while they them self's stand there looking over weight and homely. It's a case of I can look anyway I want but you must look good - double standard. It seems to be a human nature to look at others with out looking at our self's to take note of how we our self's look and act.
It's not right, I admit, but it happens and I guess we are going to have to live with it. I suppose in some cases it's a case of jealousy.

I think it's so childish and so rude. These people are arrogant or they are so insecure that to make fun of others it makes them feel better. I also think it borders on being a bully cause we have a girl in our workspot who likes to do this to others in the presence of others and she's loosing everybody's freindship but she really does think she's great! I think for the most part others see this as antisocial behavior. I never let them bother me!

I think alot of people speak before they realize what they've said. it's called putting your foot in your mouth. Which I have done countless times. And then some people are just critical by nature.

because they are, sadly, shallow enough to only look off the surface and not what's really within... it's their loss anyway, they end up losing what could have been a potentially valuable relationship with someone they dismiss right off as an "ugly cover" tsk tsk
