I met this girl online, we knew each other for 8 months. We
shared a 3 hour phone call, one night only. It went extremely
well ! Then we continued to exchange emails... I told her I was
closing door on old ex relationship, and moved to a beach resort.
She got jealous, didn't speak for 2 weeks. When she returned,
via email, she was back with her ex, this woman. And claimed
to be in love, see saw relationship. But she insists on us being
friends, forever. On her letter she wrote, remember you said,
you will always be my friend. She is always wanting to hear
what I have to say, especially when I express my feelings to
her. So should I stay her friend, or should I go? Notice we
haven't met yet, but I have seen her face on a picture. She
has not seen me.

If you want to stay friends with her that is entirely up to you. As long as you're not trying to be more than friends because from what you've said it doesn't sound like romance would be a good idea with this woman.

Stay friends for a while (3 months) and if no progress is made in other areas, tell her how you feel and let her express her feelings and decide then. Three months isn't that long, but it should tell the story.

If a women says to you "remember you said you would always be my friend", that means she probably just wants to be friends. If that's OK with you then continue. If your hoping for more than perhaps its not a good idea.

Of course because you know it might be one of those nights when you could use a good friend to talk to now that you are not together don't insist on acting like she never existed

The relationship you have described is not a healthy relationship.

It is very unwise for you to remain in this relationship because you are only setting yourself up for disappointment and heart-ache.

Take my advise and bail. Furthermore, avoid internet relationships.

Give her a miss unless you plan to meet in the future in the flesh.Internet relationships are something you can fantasize about forever. I don't believe they compare to real life friendships.

It cost you nothing to be a friend with her, unless you have a girlfriend that it bothers. Be friends, that is fine, but do not give her too many intimate details of your life and be sure not to use words like "Love ya" and stuff like that when you are writing to her. Do not use pet names either. If she is a friend, treat her like a friend and that is it.

Of course you can remain friends. I don't see it progressing much further but you can always remain email buddies that help each other through those tough times.

stay as her friend. her relationship, you say, is not that stable and i think she needs someone like you to listen to her and be there for her in bad times...she needs a friend whom she can trust and i think she trusts you a lot cuz she opened up her life to you despite the fact that she doesnt even know how you look like...

I don't think you know her well enough without even meeting her, even though you've connected for 8 months....so, I say you should just stay her friend.
" you can never have enough friends"
