Hi, my PC has developed a problem that I would appreciate anyhelp with. When I burn a DVD the sound leads the video by about two seconds, and when I empty the trash the icon goes but there is a gap between it going and the Microsoft sound .PC is home made, worked well till now, wih XP Pro as software. The only other clue I have is that it now runs a lot slower than it did, I have put three separate virus checkers onto it and run Ad Aware and it appears to be free of anything nasty. Any help would be appreciated Thanks.

With XP pro, you can find "resource hogs" fairly easily. One was is to try the following procedure (if you already know how to bring up the task manager, you can skip some of these steps):

bring up the task manager by right clicking on the blue bar at the bottom of your screen (the task bar) and selecting task manager

Click on the Processes tab

At the top menu, select View then Select Columns

Makre sure CPU and Memory Usage are checked, then check Virtual Memory Size, then click OK

Now you'll want to look at your VM Size column (you may need to scroll right or expand the size of your task manager to see it) and click the VM Size heading to sort on that column (you may need to click it twice to have the largest VM Size at the top)

Look over the first few items... if you notice an application using an extraordinarily large amount of VM, this is your culprit. If it is something you can afford to lose, close it or kill it to free the resources.

You can do this with Memory Usage, to. If this doesn't solve your problem, or if an application you need running is using a lot of memory, adding additional memory may be your best solution.

Best of luck!

Ehm..
A good registry cleaner I use is CCleaner. It's a reliable tool to get rid of worms, trojams, malwares and viruses that affect your pc performances. Free download here http://j.mp/1sW1Xfw
It works very well.

If your computer is not working properly while you are working on it, it could be a problem with device drivers, hardware or software.
