A few years ago, I saw a local TV newcast, and one of the anchors passed gas so loud that the mike picked it up. They really tried not to laugh, but couldn't hold back. Everyone in the studio, including camera ops, were hysterical. They laughed for about 2 minutes. That was the funniest thing I've ever seen and I think it was shown later on a blooper show.

I think they could be fired for laughing. It would depend on what their contract said though . I can't imagine a company hiring someone without the right to fire them though with such a blatant lack of tact. I have seen people sneeze and blow their nose on television. Coughing is done all the time too. Usually you see these things right before the person comes down with the cold big time.

I would like to think not because some people, including myself laugh when faced with news that shocks them no matter how grim. I would say a reprimand of their laughter would be dependant on how quickly, if at all they composed themselves. If they didn't and showed no remorse, then yes, I would think asking them to leave the news company would be a good idea and they shoudl probably look for a different line of workl.

Depends on how serious it is, I guess. I've seen reporters mispronounce words and then laugh because it changed the whole meaning of what they were saying, but never seen someone just laugh for no good reason.

I'm sure they wouldn't score any points if they didn't act sober and professional at all times........

I have seen many "out-takes" on some of the "blooper" shows where reporters have done all you mention here. It would be my opinion that circumstances surrounding the incident would dictate what the employer's response would be. Reporters are only human and can sometimes goof.

in case you quite want a straightforward answer, insubordination is grounds for termination. everyone that believes in own duty and duty might want to comprehend that. the actuality does not make money, sensationalism makes money and the time table of the media is to make money. It do not count number what type of media and has not something to do with political bias.

If it is an isolated incident, no. If it happens repeatedly, then there may be cause for firing based on inability to perform her job to station standards.
