Salt keeps the water clean, acts like a filtering effect for various types of pollution even though it is undrinkable. But from the oceans clouds form and drop purer water on the land. Meanwhile there are many fish etc that could not survive without the saltness of the sea.

hmm..i am wondering too! please let mi know the answer when u noe... bt i head a story b4, a captain of a ship dropped a magical item that will keep producing salt into the water, hence the sea became salty as a result. lolls

As streams and rivers flow into the ocean, they all contribute small amounts of minerals and various salts which accumulate in the oceans.

I guess it would be because there's a lot of salt in it, I dunno :)
