Im a junior and Ive been having troubles in school. Ive been looking into homeschooling and I think it would suit me much better. But if you homeschool, then you wont recieve an accredited high school diploma. Will this hurt me when Im trying to get into college? I dont want to dropout, I want to work hard, but not at the current school Im at. I hate it.

Im really trying to convince my mother that this would be the best for me.Ive researched homeschooling a lot. Ive had horibble anxiety at my school and its hard to even make myself go. I do work hard, and Im afraid that if I homeschool, my work isnt going to really be recognized. Do colleges still provide finacial assistance to homeschooled kids? How would I take the SAT?

Getting a G.E.D. does not hurt you at all! What it does is prove that even though you could not cooperate well in school you still wanted to be something. Getting in to college? all that getting a G.E.D. does is make you have to either pay for your college degree or apply for a grant. Which some that get a High school diploma even have to do, because their education level/S.A.T. scores were not high enough to give them the scholarships they needed. I have a G.E.D. and I am still wanting my college degree. I am just waiting for the grant and then I'm in. I apply every six months. Which is something a lot of people have to do, becausse there is a long waiting list. It is more impressive for a High school diploma, but it doesn't mean that you are giving up! G.E.D.s' are out there because there are alot of people who just can't cope in school!!!!

i went to 4 diff high schools by the time i was in 11th grade. then i moved to a new state and REALLY hated the school so i got my ged. and i got a hope scholarship" to a tech college. my school was free. just cuz i did good on the ged. so it didnt affect it at all. but some colleges may look down on that. not a technical college though. so it depends what u want to do. one thing i will say though is that i am embaressed to tell some ppl i got a ged cuz i am smart i just hated my high school.. my advice.. dont chance it. stick it out 1 more year of school. its for the best.

It will not make any difference. By law a Ged is the same as a high school diploma.
As far as college what counts is yuor admission tests, and your previous record.
If you study hard to acheive good grades in home schooling you will be ok. If you don't than whenyou apply for college it'll show up fast,a nd you may find yourself taking remedial courses in some small school until your grades improve enough to transfer to a good accredited school.

You can get an accredited high school diploma from the Texas Tech high school correspondence program. It's a little expensive, but well worth it. Most colleges (other than community colleges) downgrade the GED, as do most employers.

Getting a GED should not be a hindrance to you as far as college, etc. goes. Many colleges are actively recruiting homeschooled students. Bill Cosby has a GED and went on to get his PhD.

However, please be aware that homeschooling requires more discipline than traditional schooling. Are your parents supportive of this decision? Is someone going to act as your teacher?

Check out some homeschooling websites for more information.

that is a tough question...at many colleges, the homeschooled applicants are held to a higher stnadard on the SAT scores...mainly because that is there only measuremnet of achievement. also you would need to seperate yourself with community service

I do know something about it. Homeschool kids are freaks and weirdos. Sorry you couldn't hack it in a real high school.
