Remove the Hard Drive from my laptop? Will I get electrocuted? Obviously I have to unplug it from the mains and power supply... Is there any special way of doing it?

This is a very involved question and answer. But it all really comes down to the brand of laptop and the model of the device. There is not enough power passing through the device to give you any real good shock. But it is DC (Direct Current) and it will grab you for a second. Most laptops are 65-90 watts on average.

But every laptop is made differently. I had to replace my Hard Drive in my Apple Powerbook it required the removal of 24 screws. The Keyboard and a very frail ribbon cable and then 6 screws after that.

If you provide the model number and laptop you could get a better answer. Some laptops also require TORX screwdrivers to remove the screws.

Like I said before it all depends.

Hope this Helps.

Cheers!

You won't get electrocuted, but might damage your laptop due to static.
In case you are even slightly doubtful, it is better to get a professional - or a friend who is more confident.
If you are still keen, make sure you earth yourself by touching some metal object prior to handling the innards of your laptop.

As well as unplugging it, you should remove the battery first.

All laptops are different. However with mine there's a very simple sliding switch and two screws. It should be clearly labelled on the underneath though.
