Ohhh, yes! When I was visiting Germany a few years ago, I walked up to theis ATM and ... it greeted me with an almost real human voice: "Gutten Morgen" which is Good Morning in German.
I answered "Gutten Morgen" to it and the machine understood I spoke German and continued to give me instructions/asking me questions??? what to do.
Since I do not speak German, I tried to use English but the stupid machine would not understand me. So we were talking or rather trying to talk for about 2-3 minutes until I noticed a couple of people behind me, waiting to use the ATM.
Well, I looked pretty stupid talking to the wall. Worse, I didn't get any cash.

First of all, I enjoyed this question quite a lot. The person whose ATM card got chewed and how he kicked the butt out of the ATM was quite a riot to read. LOL. I gave ya a thumbs up mate. So was Al's look alike casino with the Asian immigrant.
I cant recollect anything from my first outing at an ATM. So I guess I did not have much of a problem.

I've never had any problem with an ATM.
I did get a bang out of a imported asian immigrant standing by an ATM at a casino though. He was amazed to see people winning every time they put a plastic card in the machine.

No, I've used them for so long that I don't remember my first encounter with an ATM. I'm a smart girl so I just followed the directions on the screen and out came money!

Not really ! It was like meeting a mechanised robot & I just followed the instruction and the ATM handed over to me my own money. But I remember the teller in the good old days, she was very cute and very memorable. I still remember the day ! She was something !

I was shocked when it said "This machine is out of money". I think they should leave survey forms when that happens.

the ATM said there was an error and didn't give me any money
i wishedi could throw it in the recycle bin *-)

it ate my card, so i got pist and kicked and through down the ATM and then it broke open and money came out everything except my card.

ya , i was excited . i was drawing money for my friend.it was she who guided me..i was asking her shall i draw little amount 1st..she told the amount u want to draw is very little & u have to draw higher amount .here the basic amount u can draw is some_ _ _rupees .see i still dont remember it.

it wasnt special, i just pushed some buttons to get some money out, big deal.
