Hey there , I am a ink junkie with 7 so far , i got prego while in the middle of a major piece and it is recommended you DO NOT continue getting inked til u have had baby and finished nurseing. The reasons are because a mothers immune system is lowered while prego and the risk of infection is higher for u and baby , just google " tattoos while pregnant " u will find lots of sites giveing you information. From one inked person to another ,, it is worth the wait to not risk baby and urself over it , Good luck

It is not safe to get a tattoo while pregnant because of the risk of infection. Besides that, no reputable clean shop will tattoo a woman that is pregnant. When you go to a shop they have a form for you to fill out that clearly states that if you are pregnant they will not give you a tattoo.

That's definitely not a good idea to do when you're pregnant. Someone else mentioned stress - and getting a tattoo is definitely stressful on the body. Also, even if you're not pregnant, you can't give blood for at least 6 months after you get a tattoo - probably because of the chemicals/ ink that gets into your blood stream. And if that happens normally, it could definitely affect your baby.
You should probably wait until after baby is born to get a tattoo.

I think you shoudl leave the tattoo till baby is born. The pain that it causes is going to affect you and adversely affect the baby. Also there is the risk of infection and being pregnant is not the time to be getting infections. Its not long to wait and just think what a lovely treat it will feel for you after you have had the baby.

No you should not get a tattoo when you are pregnant. The ink is absorbed into your skin and system and it could hurt the baby. Just wait, celebrate your child's birth with a tattoo afterwards. Oh yea don't get a tattoo when you are breastfeeding. you have the rest of your life to get a tattoo only 9 months of pregnancy.

I was wondering this question too. I read in the "What to Expect when Expecting Book" that we shouldn't get tattoos while pregnant. Especially after the 2nd trimester (after 16 weeks). The book said it might cause too much trauma and stress for you, which in turn, is not good for the baby.I am going to get mine after the baby comes. Just to be safe. Good luck.

Why would you even want to? Do you think they test these things on pregnant women? Nobody wants to be the reason a fetus is delivered with problems. If you must get a tatoo...I would wait until the baby is born.

You are at a risk for getting hepatitis, which can damage the baby's liver. Just hold off.
