CON stands for Console (keyboard). It's a legacy from old MS-DOS.
You will not be able to create a folder named PRN either. It stands for Printer.

In MS-DOS command prompt you can actually create a file like this:

c:\>copy con a.txt
Hello CON and PRN
Ctrl+Z

You can also print the file like this:
c:\>type a.txt > PRN

cool isn't it? BTW the ">" is the redirect operator.
Cheers!

Thx guruji9x and Sorin. I just forgot the meaning of "con" while answering one such question previously. but I knew it's a device. and really, I didn't know it's questioned 96 times earlier!

con is a name used internally by the computer (full meaning for con=console and means the keyboard).. certain names like them are not permitted to be used externally.. hence..

When will people learn to search for old answers before asking the same old trivia over and over again?!

For example:
