I am a 26 yr. old woman. I left all my old friends after getting married at age 17. Besides members of my husbands or my family, I really dont have anyone to talk to, shop with, etc. Some things you just can't or wouldn't want to say to a family member. I'm not involved in any activities and only work with my mother-in-law. What do you think I should do in order to find someone that I can really click with?

I know you said that you're not involved in any activities, but I suggest that you become useful in different clubs and organizations. I didn't have many friends either after leaving most of mine behind for many different reasons. I got involved in several dance groups and church organizations and I am so grateful for the friends I have today.

First find what you are interested in and find a place that offers that. Try the library, the gym, or set out to have coffee at the coffee shop a few times a week. I know of people who have made good friends at Seven Eleven and Loaf and Jug convenience stores just by having coffee there each morning.

Try to get out and do more go to the mall take walks in your neighborhood, there are many things that you can do. Is there any kind of social clubs where you live? If so join one. If you want to chat and need to talk you can e-mail me anytime. Making friends online is not the same but it does help you emotionally and physically. It is important to have friends.

I have similar problems, all my friends are in a different state and I keep good contact through email and phone calls but locally I got nothin'. Since I work at home, I don't see that changing anytime soon. Best advice - go out and find a hobby where you'll be in a group setting.

Get a job outside the house or find some social event to go to. I imagine some organizations would have an ad in the newspaper to indicate they will have a meeting.

You can get a job or start volunteering or join a club. You'll meet people pretty quick! Good luck!
