My dad's veterans marker was run over by a mower and severaly damaged. I asked them who was responsilbe sense the marker was not level with the ground like the others. They said it was the resposibility of the man placing the marker there and it should have been done to certain specifications and with the approval of the cemetery board. The man who placed the marker said there are no specifications as such and they should have seen it before they hit it. Do I have grounds to file a civil lawsuit? It costs 700 dollars to replace a veterans plaque.

Well how about talking to the cemetery board. I would say that they have a direct interest in this issue.

One if they feel that the marker was placed wrong & it did damage to mower they may have a case against the man who but the marker there.

If the man who put the marker there dosn't see it as his problem the cemertry board can tell him that he will no long be able to place stones there.

After all the plaque must have been mean to be flush with the ground.

Sometimes there is coverage for this on the homeowners policy. Check it out, but remember, you may not want to put in a claim for this amount.
