Applebee's

Depends on how much money you have to spend and where you are in the world. Some really good places to go are Japanese steak houses, sushi bars, homey restaurants (Applebee's, Olive Garden, Red Lobster (though I don't personally reccomend that), and any other ones that advertise on TV. Try to give an experience that won't soon be forgotten, so try to go somewhere that neither of you have been so you can experience it together. And if you really want to impress, take your date to dessert somewhere beautiful and pretty with something you've made yourself or picked up that you really like. First dates are all about new experiences and you shoudl do your best to make this one special.

Go to one that YOU would like to eat at even if you were just by yourself (as long as it is not too cheep -- no McDonald's).That way, she gets an idea of who you are and what you like. Besides, if you go to a place that you are familiar with, you are more likely to feel and act relaxed. Women seem to think self-confidence is sexy.

And if the date doesn't work out, you at least get the consolation of knowing that you went somewhere that you enjoyed, and that you had fun, even if she rejects you (since you are probably paying for it, why not go to a place that you like?).

----edit-----
Oh, by-the-way, don't go to someplace that is too expensive, either. If you try too hard to impress her, she will think that you are being manipulative, and that you are just trying to get into her paints. Besides, if the first date is too expensive, then how are you ever going to top that? You will find that you have set the bar too high in the beginning, and that it is all downhill (and a big disappointment for her) from there. Don't create false expectations in her by being too extravagant on the first date. Like all things in life, you have to find a balance that is right for you (not too expensive and not too cheep).

Boston Pizza.
Don't go somewhere too formal, it is awkward and unnatural. Go where you can both be yourselves.
