This was never before the supreme court.

The laws of inertia and kinetic energy gives trains the right of way at grade crossings. This is well known, but people ignore this fact on a regular basis and usually wind up paying the ultimate price for inattentiveness or stupidity.

Every 18 seconds someone gets munched at a grade crossing here in the US. And here's how it happens..........

Go to You Tube. Type into the search box "Banned from TV - train accident". As a visitor you won't be able to see this particular video, as it is extremely graphic, and as a result of the sign up process the site determines if you are old enough to view this carnage. It takes 5 minutes or less to join, and it's free.

Then, when searching the above title, you will be given a "last chance" to opt out of seeing the video in the form of a disclaimer "prompt".

If you don't want to wind up like the person in the video, use your head and pay attention. Your life depends on it.

I don't know that this went to the Supreme Court, but it has to be a no-brainer. If steam engines pull 100-car trains at 40 mph, what's the stopping distance? And for that matter, how long does it take to get up to speed from a standing start?

Trains must be given the right of way, by the laws of physics.
