Kerry meant what he said. He was speaking STANDARD, WRITTEN, ENGLISH. There's nothing mysterious about what he said....he made a direct insult to the men and women of the US military.

It was shameful.

Kerry`s statements just prove the how the Democrats are uninformed and have true contempt for the Military.

1.The Military is better educated than the general population.
2.The Military is all volunteer.
3. One can not join without a minimum of a high school degree.
4. Dropouts can not get in the Military.
5. Bush out performed with better grades Kerry in the same school and Bush went further in earning his Masters in Business Management.
6. There is no draft that takes kids out of school and sends them to war.

So the joke doesn`t fit. The "Joke" was damage control for the gullible .

Republicans are just repeating Kerry's words - the Democrats, in damage control, are spinning them. But even their explanation doesn't quite explain it.

You could write it off as a "joke" if it weren't for the fact that Kerry has insulted the military before. Also, if Kerry was, as he now insists, trying to insult Bush's academic performance, that wouldn't make sense either because Bush actually had a slightly higher GPA at Yale than kerry did, believe it or not.

Myself and many of my friends are veterans, and we joined not because it was our only option, but because we felt it was the right thing to do. Kerry owes us all an apology, but he won't do it - because that implies guilt.

What he meant was that if you don't get an education {like George Bush} then you end up getting the troops stuck in Iraq which was a swipe at the president and should not be taken out of proportion. Bush should apologize for waking up this morning with 104 of our troops killed in October.......

If GW Bush and Cheney were both killed in Veit Nam who would be President now? Why would anyone support Draft Dodgers?
John Kerry is a real war hero. He served. I think Kerry should apologize, right after Bush apologizes for lies to all Americans about why we were taken into war with Iraq. Bush should also apologize to all service members for his lies. Bush should also apologize for being a failure at protecting Americans before Sept. 11th. when he ignored the PDB. Do you think Bush will apologize?

that if you don't know what's going on and just want to do what you want to do without knowing what your doing you get stuck in Iraq like Bush is stuck in the situation of the war in Iraq. He not talking about the troops
you can take in a funny way or a bad way

I figure he was really referring to as in stuck in iraq like the situation Bush is stuck in.
I don't think he was talking about the troops because he has relatives in Iraq too.

Makes sense!

If you don't mind your schoolwork, you'll be an underachiever with fewer choices. The last one may be joining the military where you get stuck in Iraq.

Have you seen the "It's Your Turn" military ads where parents consider letting their kid join the military, or letting him out with gangs, and getting pregnant?

Kerry did not insult anyone who isn't aware that the military picks up rejects.
