The mid-term elections are being held on 7th November 2006, this has no bearing on who is president - it will only effect the congress and senate. The results will be close and should be known during the night or during the next day. I've actually got the Wedneday off work to watch the results come in and then to sleep during the day.

The presidential elections are on 4th November 2008, the result should be known the following day. With the new president being sworn in on or around the 20th January 2009.

One thing is known for sure - the US consitution only allows a president to stand for election for two terms, so George W Bush will not be president after the 2008 elections.

While it's true that the official date for the next Presidential election is the first Tuesday in November 2008, some States allow early voting, which can begin as early as six weeks before the November date.

And before that, both Parties hold Primary Elections or Caucus meetings in each State to select their candidates, and they begin in January of 2008 in Iowa and New Hampshire, so you could argue that voting begins then.

Elections for public office are almost always held the first Tuesday in November in any given year. The next Presidential election will be held on Tuesday, November 5, 2008. If you stay up late and watch the news you may find out who won the election, but the results are not considered official until all voting precincts have reported in, so you're usually better off just waiting until the next day to hear it on the morning news.

The next Presidential election is the first Tuesday in November of 2008. This election is for various seats in the Senate and the House of Representatives, and it is important this year because the party that controls these two bodies might change.

Nov. 2008.
There are hints on who may run now....but all those that are considering probably wont say until mid next year.
They are all too busy polling, checking their skeletons in their closets and figuring out if they run...will they beat their opponent.
