Be sure the things you get are the things you really want. Be happy and content with the things you get. Don't get things just to get things, or to "keep up".
Help those you can, accept the help of others. Look in the mirror every day & think of the things you did the day before. If they make you happy, continue. If they don't, learn from your mistake right then, don't try to justify with what ifs, make a change.
Do you need a Beemer, when all you need is to get from point A to point B? Learn to not allow envy of materialistic things to take the place of things of greater value, like education or love.
You will end with more money than you need this way. It's not "The winner is the one with the most toys" at the end. The winner is the one who is missed the most by those who loved them, and the ones whose lives were positively affected by them.
