There are better pitchers out there. I wouldn't rush into something right away. The Yankees needs to doing something about their excessive lineup. Clear out some of those big bucks and get the pitching they need. Suppan is not the answer.

"Suppan, Jeff" (see Pavano, Carl) or (bust with inury problems)
the yankees would be stupid to get him. I mean they have no choice with their poor pitching but supan was just a number 2 or 3 pitcher with the Royals a few years ago. The NL is an easier league for pitchers. Suppan pitched the world series game in STL so he did not face a DH. In the NL the 8th place hitter is a weaker version of the #9 hitter in the AL and of course, a pitcher in the 9th spot is an automatic out in most cases.
The Yankees would be wise in getting someone like Zito or Schmidt becuase they are durable meaning they can pitch a ton of innings and they rarely get hurt (zito has never missed a start in his career). Trust a friend from the bay area whose been watching those two for the last 6 years (zito) and 5 years (Schmidt)
Another option that has been thrown arround is Andy Pettite going back to the Yankees. The Yanks would be smart in bring him back. He did well against the best teams in the AL.

NOPE, there was an article in the Seattle Times today talking about how the Mariners aren't going to pursue the new Japan sensation Daisuke Matsuzaka which opens the doors for the Yankees, they will be focusing only on winning his FA auction this offseason... The mariners now are going to go after Jason Schmidt and Barry Zito btw.

I read that in yesterdays paper,I most say i'm a little worried about this move, but i heard that the red sox wanted him too,And George will do anything not to make that happen,I just don't think NL Pitchers do well pitching in the AL,But we do need pitching,so i shouldn't *****,I really want that Jap,and i wanna see this kid Phil Huges stuff,I'm tired of all these BIG NAME PITCHERS COMMING TO MY YANKEES,,AND THEN BOMBING OUT!! And Yes i Would Love For Andy Pettite To come back,To me he'll always be a Yankee! getting rid of him for Kevin Brown had to be the worst trade in Yankee history!!

What would happen if the Yankees sign a guy who's barely above .500 for his career, has an ERA almost equal to the league average, and has already peaked now that he'll be 32 by the time next season starts? Well, they might improve the back of their rotation, but it doesn't shift the power much in that division.
Suppan will likely cash in thanks to some success this postseason, but any team would be stupid to spend too much on him. He's not going to get any better, and there's a good chance of some serious falloff due to his age. The money could be better spent elsewhere.

Hard to say at this point. Is Suppan really that good or is it because he beat up on a overrated Tiger team? The Yankees need pitching to be sure but it's early and there will be a lot of trade offers on the table before this off season ends. At any rate the off season will be really great.

It doesn't make any sense. Suppan had a couple of good games. So what??? Remember, the Tigers played like crap and that has to be taken into consideration. The off season just started. Let's see what develops.

that will upset the power of balance and throw the world into a mid-evil type playing level where people act out of ocntrol and scream for the right field fences under the blanket of nonsense due to the fact that things happens and we cant help it.

yup... heard that too from ESPN. It would be good for the Yankees as long as they don't overpay..but then again they are the Yankees and they always overpay.. why not get Zito?
