Using a 2.0 tip for the primer and a 1.4 for the paint

Materials:

Primer- PPG Shopline w/ hardner
Base PPG Deltron 2000 with DT870 reducer
Pearl- PPG Deltron 2000
Clear-PPG Shopline highgloss multipanel

I have used an hvlp and cup gun hundreds of times. I have the techniques, but have never painted with these materials before.

Just commercial/ home jobs, using oils/ industrial enamals.

good answer,ray! a couple of variables to factor in... what kind of paint are you using? enamel flies at a different pressure than laquer, so you should experiment with the gun settings.using enamel, i usually run 30p.s.i. in, and about 12-15 p.s.i. for a smooth finish.(have to be careful that your pick up tube pressure is hard enough to blow paint, but too much pressure will give you a heavy orange peel effect). help ya?

start by testing have preasure at 40 and adjust from the back of the gun to let the paint fly

i spray almost everything at 32-34 psi.....seems to work for me....i spray close and fast(3-4 inches away)...give this a test run on a spare panel

It all depends on the compressor, type of paint, and last but not least, your skill level!
