Any suggestions would be much appreciated. The size and weight is the most important issue as I am going to go travelling with it. Would also be good to have a CD burner on it.

Well, as far as size and weight go, I am not so sure what you should chose, but I can tell you about durability.

I have a Toshiba lap top. I bought it on the recommendation of several people who also have Toshiba laptops. One person I know works with a guy who is in contracting. He has apparently dropped it on cement floors and has young children and it's still going strong.

I don't find mine to be too heavy and it has a burner in it. It's a Satellite. It is 17" diagonally. Toshiba has a wide variety of laptops and I think you can pretty much find anything to suit your needs. I would suggest going on their website and browsing around to see what they have for sizes and weight.

They also have wonderful customer service people and, in my opinion, a really good warranty program.

Go with a Dell and get the accidental coverage for when watever happens and you get a new one. Also the XPS M1210 has a 12 inch screen lightweight small web cam built in, at about 4lbs its a gem with the new intel core2 duo

Dell all the way! They look the best, the best picture, and weight is nice. But it might be costly, the thinner you go the more money it is. I have a dell 5160 and love it.
