They are politicians, and politicians are all the same - self-centred, and self-serving. They probably sleep fine, because they have no moral fibre.

they sleep the same way anyone else does, the only difference being, they sleep a hell of a lot more comfortably than some of their constituents who put them where they are, i'm adamant in my assertion that until a politician comes along who is willing to work for the average wage in this country, which i believe is about £22,000 per annum, and small office expenses alone, that we will not have trustable politicians, because until that happens they are out only to line their pockets, and that includes all the little back benchers, hungry for their junior ministry position one day, so the y lick the backside of whoever is flavour of the month in the hope of getting another rung up the ladder. Do away with party politics i say, and have what we were meant to have, independent representation for our own areas, working for local needs, not for party needs, not for personal gain, its not just labour MP's who are crap, it's all MP's who are in favour of lage political parties ruling the roost, rather than serving the community who elected them,. Yes Gerry Sutcliffe this means you too.........................

How old are you?
You must be young if you don't remember all the damage done by the Tories in the eighties. Steel works destroyed, mental patients walking the street because the Tories closed down the mental homes. The NHS in ruins. People marching in the streets over the poll tax. 5 million unemployed. 1 million people lost their homes because of the soring mortgage rates. VAT jumped from 9% to 17% over night. Pensioners got £5 a week extra in the winter, but it had to be below freezing and for 7 continuous days, now they get £300 no matter what the temperature. Plus hundreds of other good things.
Labour is doing a fantastic job in trying to repair all the damage the Tories did while they were in power.
Get your history books out before making any further stupid comments.

I believe this is known as a loaded question. I think you would find that the vast majority of Labour MPs sleep very well at night, because they work hard and do a good job in the service of their constituents and country.
If you have a complaint about particular politicians then frame your question to make it about those particular politicians, rather than making a sweeping generalisation, which is so wide it is nonsensical.

Speaking of which Tessa Jowell's husband just went on trial in Italy on corruption charges linked to the indictment of Berlusconi on charges of corruption.
I was wondering that since the bribe was used by Jowell's husband to pay off their mortgage, that they had taken another morgage on previously - does she have to pay the money she benefitted from back under the proceeds of crime laws ?
