The pros of a private college is name recognition. People tend to think that private colleges = better education. Class size is usually small as well.

The cons? Chances are you can get an equally effective education at a public university. The expenses are unreal, and unnecessary. I paid a little over $2,100 in tuition and fees this semester. Tuition and fees *only* for private colleges runs approximately 3 times that.

Darling,
If you are being offered any kind of scholarship or are simply among the privileged to afford private education, then my advise is to go for it. Don't get me wrong. I received my own undergraduate degree from a public university- Clemson. But when I transferred to Emory University for my graduate degree I noticed several things. First of all, if you know now that you will be going for something more than a four year degree, it is easier to start out in a private school because of the in's it will award you with when you are applying for graduate studies.
IT really depends on a variety of factors. For example, what is it you want to study? Some public institutions can provide equal opportunities for particular areas of study. There is so much out there now.
I hope this helped a bit and didn't just broaden your unanswered questions.
Please feel free to contact me regarding the issue further.
