There are so many durable light materials that have been found or invented. but I would say Aluminium bcoz most of the industrial materials are based on Al made products (Jets, watches and cars). But carbon fibre is also a light material compared to steel. But I don't know abt the durability. Mainly use in Performance cars (Formula 1)

Well, the professional cyclists, who are obviously concerned about using the lightest and most durable materials to make their bicycles, use carbon fiber.

Carbon Fibre.

It is made by pulling carbon into strands. I think it is around 50 times stronger than steel. Yet so super fine.
