I just finished school for nursing. Do other nurses like their jobs? Some nurses seem so stressed.

I'm sure it's a high-stress position, largely because there are not enough nurses to go around. They are in high demand, so your job security would seem to be there for quite some time to come. I think you would have to be a certain type personallity to be a really good nurse. Some people are cut out for it, some not.

You can get your LPN in 1 year and then find a bridge program and get your Associates RN in 1 more year. There are ways to quit working. There are all kinds of grants you can get. However, I would first make sure you really want to do this before you make that type of commitment. I made that mistake and HATED nursing. I have my nursing degree but I work in sales now. Try getting a job as a nurse''s aide so you can see how it really is. A lot of nursing homes will hire someone with no experience and pay for you to become certified. At any rate, good luck and don't give up on your dreams. There is always a way to make them happen, just not always an easy way!

It can be very stressful to be a nurse. I think the trick is to find a job you like because as a nurse you have thousands of options. You can be anything from a school nurse to a surgical nurse to labor and delivery to home health and that can make a big difference on how stressed you are by work. No one wants to go to a job they hate.

Nursing is a fantastic field to get into. There is a huge nation-wide shortage of nurses at this time. You can also make some very good money if you are flexible. If you walk into this field thinking you will work in a Doctor's office 9-5 M-F then you will be hard pressed to find a job and will be paid very little. However - if you are willing to work flex shifts, night shifts, weekends, and holidays then you can easily expect to make close to 100k.

Yes it is a good field. It can be very stressful depending on where you work. Work in a hospital is going to be more stressful than working in a private clinic. But the good thing is, there is always a large demand for nurses.
