Put away your pitchforks. If you threaten without trying to help people be cured of it, you're just getting off on feeling superior. IT DOES NOT HELP THE CHILDREN. I was molested for 10 years as a child and I never wanted to see him tortured. Why? Because I am not a torturer. that would make me the same as him. You are torturers. You just want to see pain and not really help anyone.

Actually, the death penalty has been in place for years in Louisiana for the rape of a child under 12 (in the past few years the legislature changed it to under 13) and there has been one death penalty conviction in Jefferson Parish (near New Orleans) which is still pending through the post-conviction and appeals process. South Carolina and Florida have also had legislation to pass laws similar to Louisiana's. I am not sure if those laws have passed yet.

I want to know why our taxes are going towards keeping scum like Ian Huntley alive.
My mother in law was attacked and raped by a violent paedophile when she was just 9 years old. He attacked her so viciously (with a knife) that doctors never expected her to walk again or have children (she did both) but at 44 is still disabled and in pain from the atrocious injuries she sustained.
A week later he raped and mudered a 5 year old girl by slitting her throat.
This was back in 1972. The piece of filth was only caught a few years ago because he was still abusing kids and with today's more advanced forensic evidence they were able to pin him down. He's been on the loose for 34 years.
The though of this piece of crap living on the taxpayer's money in a cushy prison with Satellite TV, four squares a day, snooker room, swimming pool, education clases etc makes me want to vomit. Hes living better than some people "on the outside do"! If I had my way he'd be squatting in a filthy cell eating moudly bread and breaking rocks with his teeth to pay for his upkeep. To hell with ihs human rights. What about the human rights of my mum in law and the little girl he murdered and his other victims?
He should be hanged.
What if he gets let out of prison for "good behaviour"? The thought of him walking the streets makes me blood run cold. This man and others like him are evil evil evil and cannot be reformed.
Oh and btw, the efficacy of the prison system in treating paedos can be evidenced from this - when my BF was a kid, a paedo raped several little girls down their street. He was locked up (for a stupidly short sentence) and then released and he got himself a job.
In TOYS R US.
Seriously. A convicted, time serving paedo got a job in a shop full of kids. Its nearly as good as the paedo who's been allowed to work out in a school gym to avoid infringing his "human rights".
The UK is a joke when it comes to controling these pieces of filth and keeping kids safe.

I certainly wouldn't object. They are the lowest of the low.
I don't know how they can hurt an innocent child,no matter what their age.
How can they live with themselves?
I think it should be brought back for all degrees of paedophiles, because no sentance is going to change them.
I have 5 children myself,4 boys and 1 girl, she being the youngest.I know what would happen if anything happened to my daughter, the offender would have very little chance of living.Even when their given a new identity,it doesn't stop them being in a community of children, the offenders register is only a book.and only tells the basics, but it's not open to everyone, which i think it should be,so we can have a say who we want in our community.

The Death Penalty doesn't work as a deterrent you only have to look at America to see that. The inmates on death row over there have repeatedly said they do not fear death, they want to get out of this world once they realise they will never be free. Therefore one must assume they fear being locked up for ever, more than death itself. Therefore locking them up until they die would be a more fitting punishment as this is what they fear most.

don't get me wrong these people are the scum of the earth but the death penalty is the cowards way out of a situation like this.
The only thing the Americans have got right is when someone get's a life sentence it means a life sentence.
In England you can be out in 17 years for good behaviour. (solitary confinement for the rest of their life).

I agree with the death penalty, even though it solves nothing. I just don't want to support these convicts for 60 years while in jail, at $50K per year per inmate. Free housing, free medical and dental, free food for the rest of their life? Shoot the SOB!

For 100% guilty, then the death penalty is the only way to go. Our government are too scared to do it though, incase too many people got wrongly convicted...which with our justice teams, is pretty damn likely.
