Hamsters need to chew in order to keep their teeth from growing too long. Make sure he has lots to chew: treat sticks, dog biscuits, wood.

Cedar chips are aromatic, and have been known to cause problems in small animals. I use CareFresh bedding/litter for my gerbils. It is safe for them, and is very "burrowable".

Hey there, do some research in Wikipedia to know more about hamsters in general, if you love your pet. They are rodents and have to gnaw as their teeth keep growing. You should buy special chew treats from the pet store and discuss the quality of the treat with them.

Hamsters, like all rodents, must chew to keep their teeth from growing too long. Cedar chips never affected my hamster.
