its a fact that a parent will let their son to hav more freedom than thier daughter. and the simple reason for this is because females can become pregnant whilst males cant!!
if you prove to your parents that your a mature being and understand what can happen from drinking alcohol, taking drugs etc. they will be willing to allow you to go out!!
all you need to do is DEVELOP TRUST with your parents!!!
DO NOT BREAK THE RULES!! trust me i no from experience they will find out one way or the other!! and if you follow their rules they will allow you to go out all the time!!
GOOD LUCK!!!

Wait until you go away to Uni then you can do whatever you want and your parents need never know. They're just watching out for you, it's their job. Strangely people think boys are safer in the big wide world but actually they are more likely to get assaulted or injured. Most parents worry about their little girls getting molested and so try and keep them in sight. I wouldn't lie to your folks as if something did happen and they didn't know where to find you then how could they help?

Same here - I'm 18 and not even allowed to do what I want which makes me rly quite depressed. When my older brother was 18, he could go out at 8pm and not come back until 4:00 in the morning without any problems from my parents but now I'm 18 my parents go mental if i come in that late.

I know it is a difficult age you are at. You want all the freedom in the world but your parents are there to protect you and if they allowed your brother more liberties then I am sure there is a reason. Here is what I suggest though. Do NOT get into that nasty habit of lying to them. When you want someone to trust you then you have to make sure they can see your integrity. If you show them you are dishonest then they are NOT going to give you more privileges. Do not lie to anybody EVER.

I was a daughter once and was treated exactly the same so I feel for you. Having said that, I am now a mother with a daughter of my own and feel that I do not want my daughter staying out late and getting into scrapes with boyfriends etc due to the fact that I would like her to be a 'lady'. I don't want her to be out late due to peodophiles and rapists etc. Its a mother's fear and I feel this is probably where your mum is coming from. She isn't going to say those things to you as she doesn't want to frighten you, and in the end makes excuses for what she really means.
Try not to be too hard on your parents, they do only want you to be safe. xx

I don't think it's because you are a girl. I think it may be because you are younger. I am an older sister, and I notice my parents are a lot more protective over my little sister. The younger/youngest member of the family is always treated as the 'baby' even at older ages. You should talk to your parents, and tell them you even though you are younger, it doesn't mean you are less mature than your broher when he was 16.

You want to be thankfull that you have parents like that. I would have given my right arm to have had parents. think yourself lucky that you have caring people that are there for you Stop lieing to them and tell them just how you feel and ask them why they are protective of you. Think about this in to days society with young girls. my daughter didnt go out till she was fourteen then her brothers went out with her. Dont make the same mistake as me pregnant at 15. dont get me wrong i love my daughter. but your life stops when a baby is born you give all to the little one thats the most important person in your life

Stop comparing your life to your brother's. You're two different people. And there's no good excuse for lying to your parents.
Good parents DON'T treat all their children the same. They make intelligent decisions for each child and each case based on the facts at hand. Life is not about fairness, and protecting you is your parents primary purposes in life.
If you want more freedom, here's a hint. Honor your father and mother. Do as your told. Make good decisions.
When you demonstrate a mature attitude, your parents will give you more freedom and will trust you more. But right now, according to your own words, you're lying, so you're not trustworthy anyway.

Well,
I think your smart so I am gonna be totally honest.
It is diffrent, Your a girl .
I have 3 sons, and Its not like you love them less, or more.
Its more like, this.
Daughters bring the baby home.Sons Don't.
The Vagina is like a Bowl that catches diseases,
and the penis only has a small pin prick hole.
( we tend to think less chance for disease)
I know it sounds crazy but its true.
Parents think like this.
I know its sexist but we don't even realize we're doing it.
And like I am sure you've heard before, You will understand when your a parent.
As far as lying goes, your parents aren't stupid, they know your lying, You don't need to tell lies,
just make responsible decisions.
At 16 you should be home at a reasonable hour, not driving in cars with teenagers, and no driving past curfew.
Don't have sex, but if you are, use condoms,
and birthcontrol.
Think about it, its not about you needing or wanting freedom, its about you realizing even adults have boundaries, and the mistakes that you make now could haunt you for the rest of your life. Before you even get the chance to enjoy your 20's, cause trust me that is the most fun time in your life.
Its your parents job to protect and nutrue you,
It would have been easy for them to just let you do what you want, but they love you so the fight FOR you, because trust me after a long hard day , the last thing they wanna do with their free time is spend it playing referee with you.
Think about it Why would they want to waste time arguing when they could be out having fun partying, ( Parents like to have fun , but responsible parents concentrate on their children.)
So please make responsible choices, think about things, and the effect they have, or could have,
And if your serious, speak to your parents and explain to them that in a year or 2 you'll be away in college, and they won't be able to watch over you. see if it makes them stop and think a bit.
That could be scaring them the most.
Good luck.
Meg

Same here. I was lucky if I had to be in when Cinderella did. But it's just like that with girls. We can't get anybody pregnant, that's why boys get to stay out so late. It's amazing to me though. Sperm gets to float around all night long, but the eggs have to sit at home and plot revenge on the parents. But that's just until you move out, honey! But just keep looking towards the future and all the fun you WILL have when you don't have anyone to answer to. It'll brighten your gloomy night, guaranteed!
