No one would argue the point that Kerry really botched his line. And anyone with a grain of logic would know that no Vietnam veteran is going to willfully insult the troops in Iraq. However, the sad truth is that the uneducated DO end up in the military, and if you're in the military in this day and age, you're in Iraq. The truth hurts; but that does not diminish its credibility.
How many Senators, Congressman or wealthy families have children fighting in Iraq? None! So, before you put Kerry on trial for telling the truth, perhaps you should place the blame where it belongs. This attack on Kerry is merely a political tactic to distract voters from the real issue: The war in Iraq is an abomination; the biggest military blunder in history.

Kerry is not an idiot......what he said should have been more clearer that's all....Bush is riding this comment to benefit him and his administration. He's taking it way out of content (a technique used mostly by lawyers)....lets be real folks, most soldiers are in the military for better opportunity and to FURTHER their education. Most soldiers go in with just an high school diploma. Have you seen a elite college graduate quick to join the army...not really...why? because they already have an opportunity for a better future. Most of our soldiers come from poverty driven environments, low-income families and they see the army as a better way out. I'm sure if they had a better opportunity knocking at their door, they would not chose the army. And yes, there are soldiers that are there just for the sole purpose of defending their country...they have the education and they really dont need to join..just being patriotic. But if we were to compare the two groups of the reason for joining...most soldiers are there because they saw the army as the only way to a better future. Bush knows this and that's why he sends recruiters in high pro very communities, to communities that the high school graduate rate is extremely low, where jobs are scarce, etc.

I also agree that Kerry is an idiot, but unlike some people, I knew it before his most recent speech.

John Kerry served in Vietnam unlike the current Commander n Chief. Kerry knows what it was like in Vietnam with 18 year old kids; many whom were not high school graduates......while many others took the route of college deferments to stay on U.S. soil! The vast majority of soldiers in Iraq today are not unlike those soldiers. Yes many are older and have a good education background and were fulfilling their obligations as reservists at the time of activation however what Kerry says still stands true for the grunts. I don't think any active soldier with an ounce of education is going to side with the conservatives that want to say that Kerry has insulted them.

Kerry just spoke his mind. And in all honesty, he was right. If you do nto get an education, your last choice may be the military, which will send you to Iraq.
When you see the "It's Your Turn" campaign asking parents on TV to choose between having his kid on drugs, pregnant, or joining the military, you know they aren't reaching out to the valedictorians, dear
So Kerry did not insult anyone

Yes , he opened his mouth , took carefull aim and shot himself right in the foot , another self inflicted wound .
He blew any chance at the 2008 nomination and will probably lose his senate seat over his words .
Now , he's canceling all appearances for democrate candidates , nobody wants him around .
If this was the best they had in 2004 , what does that say about their candidates now ?
Idiots who blindly followed a BIG IDIOT .
